Dr. Benjamin Hwang (AKA Dr. Ben) was born in New York and raised here in Tampa, FL. He is the eldest son of Dr. Daniel Hwang. Dr. Ben received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Behavioral Biology. Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Ben went on to the University of Pennsylvania, one of only 3 Ivy League dental schools, to obtain his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree as a Dean's Scholar. During his time at Penn, Dr. Ben had the opportunity to train at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, and the Tokyo Medical and Dental University, one of the top dental institutions globally.
Dr. Ben is dedicated to providing his patient's with highest quality dentistry in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Following completion of his doctorate, Dr. Ben has spent numerous hours on continuing education, obtaining his Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI). He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Florida Dental Association. Most recently, he was accepted into Mensa, scoring in the top 2% of IQ. He is comfortable in all aspects of dentistry, whether it be cosmetic, oral surgery, endodontics, and implantology. Dr. Ben loves general dentistry as it keeps him focused and engaged with whatever problems his patients may have.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Ben likes to challenge himself to continuously improve different aspects of his life. He originally moved to Florida to pursue competitive tennis, achieving a top 10 ranking in Florida 18s and under as well as 3 team state championships and an individual state championship at Wharton High School here in Tampa. He went on to play collegiately at Johns Hopkins University achieving a ranking of 14 nationally. Following his competitive career, Dr. Ben has found an interest in endurance sports, completing numerous marathons and most recently, the Ironman Florida 140.6 mile Triathlon.
Dr. Ben is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Farhana, who is a Tampa native and also works in healthcare, holding a Master’s degree from Penn. They enjoy living in Wesley Chapel with their three cats and love traveling and exploring all the new things Tampa has to offer.
